About us Blogs Tamar Lake 8km 2025 Race Report January 2025 The following race report is from Alan Smith, our Senior Ranger at Tamar Lakes: I look forward to the Tamar Lake 8km and love the community spirit of everyone getting together and celebrating running in the great outdoors. From event organising to marshalling and cheering to running in a beautiful spot, I love taking part and organising this event each year. This was an extra special event for me this year as I have come across some gnarly personal challenges that took up some mind space that would otherwise be devoted to race directing. Nevertheless, our amazing team rose to the challenge of stepping in and ensuring that things ran smoothly. Marshals, sponsors and friends (you all know who you are), you’re the reason our much appreciated Tamar 8km happened. Thank you to all the awesome people who had my back the whole way! Another big thank you goes to everyone that entered, the outdoor people that celebrate our wonderful countryside, you make this event what it is. It was great to see so many people joining in and smiling as they crossed the finish line. The women’s category saw some super strong running with first place going to Chloe Constantine, second going to Natalie Creese and third to Claire Strong. Honourable mention to South West Lakes Trust's very own Emma Hancock with an admirable fourth place finish! For the men's category, Dean Wickett earned first place with a rapid time of 28.38, second place going to Anthony Jarvis and third to Mike Clark. I do have one apology to make and that’s that I messed up the dates when ordering the medals, I ordered 2024 instead of 2025. This was nothing to do with the personal challenges I’d been facing, just simply an administrative error made when ordering. So I am sincerely sorry for this and hope you can still enjoy the nice leaf shaped medal made from sustainably sourced wood. I want to say one final thank you to everyone who was involved in the Tamar Lake 8km this year, I’m looking forward to more brilliant events in the future. For the full race timings, click here.
